Among this year’s nominees who didn’t make the final cut were The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Mariah Carey, and Phish—the latter topping the fan vote. Also notably left out once again were Oasis and Joy Division/New Order.
Liam Gallagher, ever outspoken, had previously reacted to Oasis’ nomination by tweeting: “The Hall of Fame is for dickheads.”

“Each of these artists has created a distinct sound and attitude that left an indelible mark on culture and redefined the course of rock,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Hall of Fame. “Their songs gave voice to entire generations and inspired countless artists who followed.”

The induction ceremony will take place on November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. As always, it’s a night famous for unexpected reunions—or painful reminders of past rifts—whether on stage or during emotional acceptance speeches.
The dream moment fans are hoping for this year? A surprise reunion of Jack and Meg White.
