Kali Uchis Unveils Emotional New Single “ILYSMIH” Ahead of New Album

Kali Uchis shares an intimate ballad inspired by motherhood, leading into her upcoming LP Sincerely.

Kali Uchis has unveiled “ILYSMIH,” the second single from her highly anticipated album Sincerely, set for release on May 9 via Capitol Records. The track, whose title stands for “I love you so much, it hurts,” is an intimate ballad that draws from the soul-infused sound of her early work, but with a fresh emotional depth inspired by motherhood.

Written while her newborn napped beside her, “ILYSMIH” captures Uchis’ profound shift into family life. “For once in my life, I’m not alone anymore,” she sings, contrasting her earlier themes of isolation found in songs like “Loner.” The tender lyrics reflect a newfound peace and purpose, layered over a slow, nostalgic production reminiscent of her Por Vida era.

In a heartfelt statement, Uchis shared, “Living a life that is rich in love and inner peace hasn’t come easy. I hope this song will find anyone who needs it.” The Colombian-American artist first teased “ILYSMIH” on TikTok, posting a sweet video with her baby and hinting at the personal nature of the song.

“ILYSMIH” follows the dreamy “Sunshine & Rain” and continues building momentum for Sincerely, her fifth studio album. After a stellar 2024, which included a Grammy nomination and a surprise appearance at Coachella with Jennie, Uchis’ new era marks a return to her roots, enriched by personal growth and new beginnings.

Fans can stream “ILYSMIH” now on all platforms as they await the full album drop.
