Taylor Swift’s “Elizabeth Taylor” Music Video is a Cinematic Masterpiece

A Love Letter to an Icon

In the third act of her The Life of a Showgirl era, Taylor Swift has traded traditional narrative drama for a high-art tribute. The music video for “Elizabeth Taylor,” which premiered today, March 31, 2026, marks a departure from her previous visuals for “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite.” Instead of appearing on screen herself, Swift has curated a breathtaking montage of the legendary actress who inspired the track.

Currently available exclusively on Apple Music and Spotify Premium, the video serves as a “fancam” for the ages, weaving together the violet-eyed star’s most magnetic moments from the silver screen.

The Quintessential Showgirl

For Swift, the choice to center the actress was deeply personal. In a recent track-by-track commentary, Taylor described Elizabeth Taylor as the “ultimate showgirl”—not necessarily in the Vegas sense, but in her ability to navigate an intense, lifelong spotlight with humor and grace.

”She was always under the microscope,” Swift noted. “But she just kept creating incredible art and moving forward on her own terms. This song is a love letter viewed through the lens of her life and the parallels I feel with my own.”

The video features carefully selected scenes from six of Taylor’s most iconic films:

  • Julia Misbehaves (1948)
  • Love Is Better Than Ever (1951)
  • Rhapsody (1954)
  • Giant (1956)
  • Suddenly, Last Summer (1959)
  • Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)

Record Store Day & The “So Glamorous” B-Side

Collectors have even more to look forward to this spring. To celebrate Record Store Day 2026 (April 18), Swift will release a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl of the single. The physical release—pressed on what’s being called “Cry My Eyes Violet” glitter vinyl—will feature the original track and the fan-favorite “So Glamorous Cabaret Version” as the B-side.
