Dolly Parton Cancels Las Vegas Residency Due to Health Issues

Rhinestones on Hold: Dolly Parton Prioritizes Health, Cancels Las Vegas Residency

The “Queen of Country” is hanging up her five-inch heels—at least for now. In a move that blends her trademark wit with a touch of heartbreak, Dolly Parton has officially canceled her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The 80-year-old icon, who has been battling ongoing health challenges including a struggle with kidney stones and immune system issues, shared that she simply isn’t “stage-performance ready” yet.

“Swimmy-Headed” but Spirited

Originally scheduled for December 2025 and later pushed to September 2026, the Dolly Parton Las Vegas residency cancellation comes as a blow to fans who haven’t seen her in a concert series since her 2016 Pure & Simple tour. In a video message that was equal parts vulnerable and hilarious, Dolly explained that her medication leaves her feeling a bit “swimmy-headed.”

“I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such on 5-inch heels—and you know that I’m going to be wearing them,” she joked, reminding us that even in recovery, the Dolly Parton brand of “big hair and big personality” remains untouched.

A Legacy in Transition

While the Vegas Strip will have to wait, Dolly isn’t slowing down behind the scenes. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer confirmed she is still recording music and focusing heavily on her creative empire. Most notably, she is channeling her energy into Dolly: A True Original Musical, her Broadway-bound project slated for a New York debut this fall. Between her Dollywood park duties and opening a new museum and hotel in Nashville, the singer is proving that “healing” doesn’t mean “stopping.”

This residency would have marked her grand return to the Strip for the first time since the 1990s, when she famously performed with the late Kenny Rogers. Though the 2026 dates are off the table, Dolly’s message was clear: she’s improving every day and intends to see her fans “somewhere down the line.”
