Radiohead to Debut 17,000 Sq Ft “Kid A Mnesia” Bunker at Coachella

Everything in its Right Place: Radiohead Unveils the "Motion Picture House" Bunker

For months, the Coachella lineup held a cryptic secret that sent the Radiohead fanbase into a speculative tailspin. Today, the mystery of “The Bunker” has finally been solved. It’s not a surprise headlining set, but something perhaps even more ambitious: Motion Picture House, a massive, 17,000-square-foot physical manifestation of the Kid A Mnesia universe.

From Virtual Pixels to Physical Concrete

Long-time fans will remember the 2021 digital exhibit released for PS5 and PC. While that “playable art installation” was a haunting success, Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood always intended for this to be a tactile, real-world experience. The pandemic forced the project into the digital realm of Unreal Engine, but 2026 marks the year the “Monster” is finally let out of the cage.

Premiering April 10th at Coachella 2026, the installation is housed in a purpose-built underground bunker buried beneath the Empire Polo Fields. With 38-foot ceilings and a custom six-point surround sound system, the experience is designed to be visceral, anxiety-inducing, and utterly immersive. Yorke describes the narrative core of the project as “a Monster trapped in a derelict museum of the lost and forgotten.”

Beyond the Desert: The North American Tour

If you aren’t heading to Indio, Radiohead is taking the “Museum of the Lost” on a limited road trip. This isn’t a traditional concert tour—the band will not be performing live—but rather a series of extended residencies in industrial spaces across North America.

The experience lasts 75 minutes, featuring a film composed of Yorke and Donwood’s original artwork from the turn of the millennium, set to a soundtrack meticulously remixed from the original multitracks of Kid A and Amnesiac.

Future Radiohead Plans: Ed O’Brien Weighs In

While the installation celebrates the past, guitarist Ed O’Brien is looking toward the future. In recent interviews surrounding his new solo album Blue Morpho (dropping May 22), O’Brien confirmed that the band has settled on a unique touring plan starting in 2027: they intend to play 20 shows on a different continent each year. Furthermore, he teased that a brand new Thom Yorke LP is slated for release later in 2026.
