DJ Shadow Endtroducing 30th Anniversary: Reissue and Orchestral Tour Announced

DJ Shadow celebrates 30 years of Endtroducing with a full reissue and 2026 tour, including a special orchestral show. Get dates and pre-order info.

Thirty years ago, a quiet producer from Davis, California redefined what music could be using nothing more than a vinyl collection, an Akai MPC60 MkII sampler, and a Technics SL-1200 turntable. When DJ Shadow (Josh Davis) released Endtroducing….. in September 1996 via Mo’Wax, he didn’t just put out a record—he earned a Guinness World Record for the first commercially released album constructed entirely from samples. Now, three decades later, the instrumental hip-hop masterpiece is getting the grand celebration it deserves.

Shadow has officially announced a massive DJ Shadow Endtroducing 30th anniversary package, featuring a double-LP vinyl reissue coming September 18 via Mo’Wax / [PIAS] and an extensive North American and UK tour.

The Sound That Reshaped Sample-Based Production

Recorded primarily between his home setup and Dan “The Automator” Nakamura’s San Francisco studio (The Glue Factory), Endtroducing….. transformed crate-digging into an elite art form. Shadow chopped, layered, and stitched forgotten funk breaks, obscure dialogue, and moody synth lines into a cohesive, cinematic head-trip. The album didn’t just define mid-90s trip-hop and instrumental hip-hop; it altered the DNA of modern electronic beatmaking forever.

The upcoming milestone follows a busy period for the producer, who recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of his 2016 album The Mountain Will Fall and dropped “Nobody Speak Part 2” featuring Denzel Curry and TiaCorine.

From Club Dates to the Barbican: Live 2026

The anniversary tour kicks off on September 24 in San Diego, cutting through major North American stops including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and Vancouver before wrapping up in Fort Worth on November 1.

However, the undisputed crown jewel of the tour takes place on December 8 at London’s prestigious Barbican. In an unprecedented move, DJ Shadow will perform Endtroducing….. in its entirety accompanied by the BBC Symphony Orchestra—a fitting, high-art culmination for an album built on vinyl dust and sheer genius.
